Ten or 12 years ago, Santa Fe had a distinct shortage of apartments to rent. Those that were available commanded high prices and were usually snapped up quickly. Searching for an affordable apartment could be a long and dreary process. But then the marketplace kicked in. Seeing a strong demand, builders erected hundreds or even thousands of new units, with varying sizes, features and prices. Now finding an apartment is not an ordeal. Presented here as a service to SFAOL users is a scattered overview of several apartment compounds that currently or recently have had units available. It is not a comprehensive listing; there are many other possibilities, and a thorough search might explore most or all of them. Rather, this collection is meant merely to give our Internet visitors an idea of the present market for apartments in Santa Fe-a basis for weighing costs and amenities.
